- 450g plain white flour (siktet hvetemel)
- 5ml (1 level teaspoon) salt
- 30ml (6 level teaspoons) baking powder (bakepulver)
- 80g butter (smør)
- 300ml milk
- milk to glaze
Method
- Preheat a large baking sheet in the oven.
- Sift together the flour, salt and baking powder.
- Add the butter and rub in until there are no large lumps and the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
- Make a well in the centre and add the milk. Using a round ended knife, stir the mixture, then using your (floured) hands, bring it together into a soft dough.
- Knead lightly to remove any cracks, then roll out on a floured surface until it is approximately 2cm thick.
- Cut into rounds with a cutter, place on the warmed baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with milk and bake for 8-10 minutes at 230°C near the top of the oven.
- Cool on a rack.
